Welcome to The Mac Attic, an abandonware software library made for vintage Apple computers and very old/ancient web browsers
Based on the acclaimed comic science fiction series of the same title, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" is a computer game featuring interactive fiction. The game was designed by the series author Douglas Adams and Steve Meretzky of Infocom. It was initially launched in 1984 for the Apple II, Macintosh, Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari 8-bit, Atari ST, and IBM PC, marking Infocom's fourteenth game.
As for the downloads provided above, Mac OS X users don't need to set up a Mac emulator to enjoy these games; 'Zoom' simplifies the job for you. You can find more information about Zoom on its homepage at https://www.logicalshift.co.uk/unix/zoom/
A tip for using Zoom: To make sure that the games are recognized by the application, add the extension ".z5" to the game's name.
As of version 2.2.0, ScummVM can also run these games.
